Is Virtual PC for Mac the best solution to play old PC games on a Mac?

krimla2000 asked:

Also, would DosBox be the best solution to run under DOS emulation?

Depends on the type of Mac and what you want to do.

If you want to just run DOS games… I would try them under DosBox first. It’s free and it works well.

If it’s all sorts of old games, like Windows 3.X games, games that boot off of a disk, games for OS/2, etc… Then you want either Virtual PC (for Power Macs), Parallels (for Intel Macs), or Apple’s Boot Camp (for Intel Macs – This is also free).

Please be aware that none of these solutions are perfect for running old games. So I recommend trying a few games with DosBox and with trial versions of Virtual PC and Parallels.
